You are eligible for informal care support if you need care and support at home and your family member or other close person is willing and able to act as your informal carer. The care category for the informal care support is determined based on how binding and demanding the care is.
The overall situation of the informal care family and the available services to support the family's wellbeing are examined with an assessment of service needs. The assessment pays attention to both resources and challenges in coping with everyday life. The family situation, other services provided and information from the indicators used in the determination all influence the informal care decision.
The actual place of residence of the person in need of care must be in the wellbeing services county. Informal care is provided in the home of the client living in the wellbeing services county or informal carer living in the wellbeing services county.
Informal care support facilitates living at home, but running errands or housekeeping is not alone a sufficient reason for granting the support.
To receive the service, please contact the counselling service for people with disabilities either by phone, email, through the Maisa client portal or by sending an application online or in paper form. You can find the up-to-date contact information and opening hours in the Service units tab.
The disability services are intended for people who, because of a disability or long-term illness, cannot find services that meet their needs in the basic services.
