Preventive mental health and substance abuse work

Preventive mental health and substance abuse work is a statutory activity aimed at preventing and reducing the harms of substance abuse and gambling and promoting the mental wellbeing of Vantaa and Kerava residents.

The service includes the coordination of the preventive mental health and substance abuse work carried out in the wellbeing services county. We work together with municipalities, organisations, public authorities, residents and other actors in the wellbeing services county. We organ…ise substance abuse and mental health training for staff and keep them informed of current issues so that residents receive information and support from the professionals they meet. Through direct communication and campaigns aimed at residents, we communicate services, influence attitudes and motivate change. In addition, the wellbeing services county follows the Pakka operating model of preventive substance abuse work, which involves consulting residents in a substance use survey, for example, and working with shops and restaurants on responsible selling and serving.
