Vantaa Hakunila’s fire on October 8th – wellbeing services county’s Social and Crisis Center provides help to those in need

There has been a medium-sized building fire in Vantaa Hakunila, Heporinne 1, in the early hours of October 8th. The fire resulted in the loss of five lives.

The wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava collaborates closely with other authorities to manage the situation. The wellbeing services county's Social and Crisis Center also cooperates with local schools and daycare centers.

The role of the Social and Crisis Center is to provide emergency accommodation for those in need and offer psychosocial support. Psychosocial support is particularly focused on working with the families and loved ones of the victims.

Events like these can evoke many emotions and thoughts, and it is important to discuss them with your loved ones.

"This can raise a lot of questions in children as well, and children need the support and presence of close adults in such situations. It is good to have open discussions with children, taking their age into consideration. Parents can create a safe atmosphere by maintaining daily routines," says Henna Niskanen, Head of the Social and Crisis Center.

The Social and Crisis Center is available 24/7. Also, Hakunila Parish will keep its doors open for the residents of the area until 4 pm on Sunday, October 8th, and, if needed, longer.
