Malminiitty Work and Activity Centre

Malminiitty Work and Activity Centre provides daytime activities on weekdays for clients of special care for people with intellectual disabilities. In addition, we organise day activities under the Disability Services Act three times a week.

The day activities support the client's participation in a meaningful life and meaningful activities in a group setting. Our clients can participate in the planning, implementation and development of the activities with the help of various communication met…hods and staff support. The daily and weekly programmes are built and planned together by using, for example, visual communication, keyword signs and the client's personal communication aids and tools. We approach each client with a tailored focus and open mind and plan the goals of the activities together with the client and the close social networks.

For day activities under the Disability Services Act, the content is planned together with the client and the activity instructors. The needs, wishes and goals of clients are the starting point for the planning.

Participation in the activities requires a service needs assessment and a decision on day activities made by the Client Assistance Unit for the Disabled. The decision specifies the number of days allocated to the day activities. The more detailed schedule is agreed individually with the client's needs and goals in mind.
