You are eligible for informal care support if you need care and support at home and your family member or other close person is willing and able to act as your informal carer. The care category for the informal care support is determined based on how binding and demanding the care is.
The overall situation of the informal care family and the available services to support the family's wellbeing are examined with an assessment of service needs. The assessment pays attention to both resources and challenges in coping with everyday life. The family situation, other services provided and information from functional ability indicators all influence the informal care decision.
For an informal carer living outside the wellbeing services county of Vantaa and Kerava, informal care support can be granted for their home for a limited period of up to one year. If a client lives outside the wellbeing services county for a longer period of time, the client's actual municipality of residence changes. In such case, you can apply for the services from the actual municipality of residence.
Informal care support facilitates living at home, but running errands or housekeeping is not alone a sufficient reason for granting the support.
To receive the service, please contact senior counselling either by phone, email or through the Maisa client portal.
In addition to service guidance, the work of senior counselling focuses on supporting well-being. The well-being support is targeted at residents who are fragile due to an illness or ageing, such as people with memory problems and informal care families.
Senior counselling provides information on the well-being activities and services offered by organisations, private companies and the city.
