What does summer look like for a home care nurse, a housing counsellor, a dental hygienist, and an emergency response centre operator?
We asked four of our professionals in different services:
Dental Hygienist Elina Aigro, Oral Health Services
I’ll be at the Smile Clinic and at summer food events in Vantaa and Kerava. You can also ask me questions about oral health via the Oral Health Care VAKE Facebook page and the suunterveydenhuoltovake Instagram page to request content related to oral health.
In the summer I enjoy the sun, warm evenings, hanging out at the beach, ice cream, and being outdoors.
The summer heat makes us thirsty. It’s best to have fruit juices, sodas, and energy drinks only a few times a week, as they damage tooth enamel. Water is the best thirst-quencher. It hydrates effectively and contains no acids, sugars, or calories.
Emergency Response Centre Operator Christina Rintamäki, Central Uusimaa Rescue Department
I work at the Central Uusimaa Rescue Department situation centre in Vantaa.
The best things about summer are the warmth and the lush greenery of early summer, when everything feels so fresh. I find joy in tending to my garden and admiring the flowers. Vacationing and resting are also important for recharging your batteries so you can make it through the autumn at full speed.
If you come across lone baby animals in the summer, such as baby rabbits, there is no need to contact emergency services. The young animal is not usually in need of help; the mother has just left it behind while she goes looking for food. The mother will return to her child when things calm down and there are no humans around to bother them
Home Care Nurse Nelli Salmi, Elderly Care Services
You can meet me at my place of work, the Lumo care home in Kerava.
The absolute best things about summer are relaxing at the summer cabin, the sunsets and warm weather, the long summer evenings, and spending time with loved ones.
Go visit your loved ones in nursing homes this summer – it means more to them than you might think. Being outdoors together is a nice way to spend time; you can even take your afternoon coffee outside. Don’t forget to enjoy your free time and the summer yourselves. Have a wonderful summer, everyone!
Housing Counsellor Christa Salmenkari, Adult Social Services
