Intermediate account services are provided to clients of adult social work who have a regular income and difficulties managing their finances. An intermediate account can help if you have frequent and serious problems with managing your money.
Your situation will be assessed by your personal social worker who sets up an intermediate account if needed. The account is provided for a fixed term, and a plan is made for its use. The aim of the service is to secure your financial situation and to ha…ndle your necessary bills. You voluntarily commit to a service where your income is directed to an account managed by the social services. Some or all your regular income may be directed to the account, from which the account manager pays the agreed bills, such as rent. The rest of the income is transferred to your personal account for use according to the plan.
Intermediate account services are based on an agreement and plan between the client and the social services to manage the client's finances. You are not under guardianship or public guardianship.
Grounds for setting up an intermediate account include:
- regular rent arrears
- problems paying necessary bills and significant, regular arrears
- uncertainty about paying a significant expense, such as a monthly payment for a social loan
- challenges in managing monthly income, e.g. high food expenditure
The intermediate account can be used to handle, for example, rent, electricity, health care and other bills determined in the plan. The monthly amount transferred to your personal account can also be paid in instalments.
Prerequisites
Intermediate account services are intended for clients of adult social work. The services are provided based on the determined need for an intermediate account and an action plan drawn up together with the client. Your personal social worker will assess the need and feasibility of the service with you. First, all primary means of managing finances need to be explored, such as direct bank payments, support from family members and support staff. Intermediate account services are a last resort to ensure that your finances are managed, and it is in general a temporary service. During the process, you receive guidance and support for managing finances effectively.
The service is voluntary and temporary and requires a decision from a social worker.
