Solkikuja Work and Activity Centre provides work and day activities for clients of disability or social care services who are between the ages of 16 and 64 and live in Vantaa.
The aim of the activities is to support inclusion, self-determination and independence and to increase the participant's control over their own life. Another goal is to promote their wellbeing and bring content to their daily lives. We provide our clients with experiences and opportunities to try new and different things.…We also help our clients experiment with a low threshold through various work activities and prepare them towards individual and group work coaching.
The centre offers tailored, varied and goal-oriented group activities with the help of professional and motivated staff. The activities create a culture of encounter. They are characterised by a sense of community, creativity and enthusiasm. Our starting point is that every client can feel welcome just the way they are.
The work activities include, for example, various subcontracting work, such as packaging, sorting, assembly and mailing for customer companies. We also carry out group work activities on-site in companies. Our clients can also participate in small-scale work in institutional care and catering, recycling and handicrafts. The work activities emphasise life management skills and holistic wellbeing.
The day activities include a variety of inclusive and creative activities, such as arts and crafts, music, sports and outdoor activities in the local nature. We also make use of local services, such as libraries, shops and cafés, and go on excursions where possible. The activity themes include dance and body awareness, communication and discussion, multisensory sessions, seasonal gardening, cooking and baking, multimedia, renovation, car wash, book clubs and a long list of other themes that fit the season and holidays.
The schedule and content of the activities is tailored to the needs and wishes of each client. Our staff is responsible for planning, implementing and assessing the content, together with the clients. Customer involvement and customer focus are our key values. The planning and implementation of the activities takes into account the wishes, needs and interests of the clients, and a varied daily and weekly programme is planned and implemented for - and together with - each client.
