A few serious quality deviations have recently occurred in the wellbeing services county's catering services – quality control is being intensified
The Vantaa and Kerava wellbeing services county has purchased its catering services from Attendo Majakka Oy since the start of January.
Unfortunately, a few serious quality deviations were detected during week 15, in which foreign objects ended up in food. The incidents took place in April and affected a limited number of customers. They were immediately informed. A doctor has also been consulted. No customers were harmed, but foreign objects in food always pose a serious risk and are taken very seriously.
Attendo’s production processes and guidelines were immediately revised. These have been communicated to all personnel in the organization. Intensified quality control is currently underway at Attendo.
Catering services include production and transport, as well as food delivery organized by the wellbeing services county. As a precaution, the wellbeing services county is therefore also intensifying its own quality control and revising its guidelines.
“We are very sorry about these quality deviations – this kind of thing should never be allowed to happen in the first place. We are still keen to receive feedback so that we can get as clear a picture as possible of the current standard of service,” director of organisational support Nina Linja adds.
The third suspected case of deviation from expected standards is still under investigation. The cases that have already been solved were found to be caused by human error. Since there have been several unexpected quality deviations in a short period of time, the situation is being investigated as a whole. The possibility of malicious intent cannot be completely ruled out at this stage, although there are no indications of it. “Intensified quality control is now underway. We’ll be wiser as a result.”
How to give feedback
Around 1,500 customers in the Vantaa and Kerava area receive meals daily. We ask customers and staff to report any quality deviations without hesitation.
